Azat is currently a summer law student at Steinmans Trial Lawyers and will complete his Juris Doctor at Thompson Rivers University in 2023. Prior to attending law school, he earned a Bachelor of Commerce and Master’s Degree with distinction in Economics and Business from the Kharkiv University of Humanities “People’s Ukrainian Academy” in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Azat has worked in hospitality, first at the Courtyard by Marriott Edmonton West, and later at the West Edmonton Mall, where he was in charge of Group Sales.

At law school, Azat volunteers for Pro Bono Students Canada, has worked as a Research Assistant, and was elected as the Chair of First-Year Law Students to represent his peers and act as a liaison between his class and the faculty administration.

Azat is currently the VP of Corporate Relations at TRU Business Law Society, and a past member of the TRU International Affairs Committee.

Azat was born in Turkmenistan, studied in Ukraine, and immigrated to Canada in 2010. Outside of law, Azat enjoys hiking, surfing, running obstacle course races, playing tennis, and exploring Vancouver’s local coffee shops and restaurants.

Azat is articling starting May 2023.
